Today we learned how sound vibrations travel on sound waves. We watched a number of YouTube videos on the subject and had a robust conversation about the science behind SOUND.
Our favourite video that showed this was “CYMATICS: Science Vs. Music – Nigel Stanford”
We then made String Phones to experiment with sound vibrations and sound waves. We trialled different sized cups and different strings such as wool, twine and nylon.
Both sized cups worked the same. All the string worked well too. The secret is the always make sure the string is tight. We could cross over more than one string phone for lots of people to talk together.
